Cypress College 2021-2022 APIA Scholarship Recipient

The 2021-2022 Cypress College APIA Scholarship Award recipient is Huy (Henry) Nguyen. Henry has shown remarkable leadership skills and initiative during his time at Cypress College. While maintaining a place on the Dean’s list with a 4.0 grade point average, Henry served as President of the Business Club. During his tenure as president, attendance at meetings and events increased by 50% as he implemented his vision. Recognizing the opportunity to expand the Business Club activities, Henry was instrumental in the development of a mentorship program that connected 15 club members with 20 business professionals for one-on-one conversations. He is very collaborative and inspired the other students to make their own valuable contributions in successfully reaching the overall objectives of the Business Club. Through a partnership with the Honors Club, Henry helped organize a successful collaborative event. He also invited speakers from Beta Alpha Psi, UCLA, SCORE, and other academic organizations so students could learn from others who pursued similar goals.

Since Henry strives to be the first in his family to earn a degree from a 4-year college, he will be transferring in fall. His ultimate goal is to become a CPA and he has already gained valuable experience in his field through paid tax and accounting internships. With his determination and focus, Henry aims to be in a position to give back to his community as he says he will always remember the opportunities he was given to succeed. The Cypress College APIA Scholarship Committee is pleased to be able to contribute in this small way to Henry’s path to success.
