NOCCCD APIDA

 The Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Faculty Staff Association (APIDA) seeks to recognize students who represent the spirit of APIDA through their academic accomplishments and personal commitment to their community, campus, and/or family. The Cypress College APIDA scholarship of $300 will be awarded to a currently enrolled student in any field. 

Specific Eligibility Criteria

• Be a currently enrolled student at Cypress College.
• Plan to finish a certificate in a Career Technical Education field OR earn an associate degree for the 2024-2025 academic year OR plan to be enrolled at least half-time at an accredited 4-year college or university in the next fall or spring term.  
• Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 by end of Fall 2024 (will be verified by the selection committee)

Note: If you attend multiple campuses in our district, such as NOCE or Fullerton, you may only apply to one campus. Previous APIDA scholarship recipients are ineligible to re-apply.

1. 1. An online student application which includes a personal essay detailing  accomplishments and future goals. Students can discuss academic achievements/awards, campus activities, work experience, community involvement, volunteer work, and/or family responsibilities
   2. Completed Questionnaire from a Recommender

Members of the APIDA scholarship committee read all applications and select the recipient.

The student is required to select one individual who knows the student and is familiar with his/her accomplishments and extracurricular activities. A teacher, counselor, work supervisor, community service leader, or an individual familiar with the applicant could serve as a recommender.

Recommendations from relatives will not be accepted.  It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that their recommender completes the questionnaire by the deadline, April 11th, 2025 at 5pm.

Recommenders may describe the applicant’s community service, leadership skills, academic accomplishments, and family responsibilities. APIDA welcomes and appreciates any additional comments about the applicant that will help the selection committee in the evaluation process.

• Plan to finish the High School Diploma program, Career Technical Education, or English as a Second Language certificate for the 2024-2025 academic year OR plan to attend a community college in the fall or spring term of the next academic year.
